Actually might be more to it than we think. If the dude is a lorry driver, this might be his biggest chance for international glory. Russian KAMAZ trucks have been dominant at Dakar, winning 19 times.

Except that, in that turn, everybody is exiting wide... To try to pass on the outside on that turn, especially after forcing the defender to defend or forcing the defender to the inside line going into that turn, is knowing that you're going outside on the exit. THAT'S why what Alonso says makes sense.

Could easily have been a bigger lead for either team (driver), if not for mistakes by both when they each had opportunities to take a big lead in points...interesting, given that we're talking about two drivers who (by now) have experience (Hamilton one of the 3 most experienced in the sport, + Kimi) and previous success in race wins,... And, great teams behind them. Even those teams (and drivers) seem to be struggling with keeping it together as much as we would have previously expected. (11 second pit stop out of red bull? Really?!!!!) This is one of the most interesting seasons for me, at least since Alonso was in a red car... Grab the pop corn

Red Bull has had three drivers come in (relatively) as kids (Vettel, Ricciardo and Max) and do incredibly well, even when paired with world champions, & obviously expect this from all of their juniors. Maybe a little spoiled, but perhaps the juniors are also, expecting that this team automatically catapults them, without realizing the pressure to perform that they'd be under. Getting moved up to the senior team isn't the end, but just the beginning, really.
